Physical Education

The Guthrie School physical education program is designed to build character, enhance confidence, foster communication, create camaraderie, and develop leadership in participating students while also establishing the foundation for lifelong health and wellness.

Physical education and athletics are important to the well-rounded development of students and play an important role in a student’s health and wellness. The Guthrie School is proud to offer a formal physical education program to students in Early Childhood – Sixth Grade.

Key elements of Physical Education curriculum:
  • Gain Gross motor skills and movement patterns
  • Apply knowledge, concepts, principles, and strategies in movement and performance
  • Develop knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a healthy and appropriate level of physical activity and fitness
  • Practice responsible personal and social behavior respective of self and others
  • Recognize the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction
