Kathy Loftin

Mrs. Loftin graduated from Texas Tech University in 1985 with a B.B.A. degree. She holds a State of Texas Professional Education Teacher Certificate EC-4th grade along with The Gifted and Talented and E.S.L. students’ certifications.  She spent 12 years teaching kindergarten and Pre-K in private school and 10 years teaching kindergarten and 2nd grade in the Plano Independent School District. During her final six years she held the 2nd grade team leader position. She assisted in writing the P.I.S.D. curriculum in ELA and Social Studies and held several co-chair Professional Learning Community positions on campuses supporting faculty member growth, learning of curriculum, and differentiating.

She inspires her students with the love of reading which she believes is the key to their educational success. She is dedicated to extending, challenging, and enriching young minds and supports their journey to become independent learners and thinkers in first grade.

Mrs. Loftin and her family have lived in Plano for the past 25 years. She and her husband Jimmy are now empty nesters and love traveling, snow skiing, and hiking. She is thrilled to be part of the Guthrie School and looks forward to a fantastic year with her students and families.
